“Maalaea is one of the worlds most elusive waves. It takes a very narrow combination of swell direction, wind condition, and tide to turn this wave into one of the wonders of the surfing world. It’s fast and hollow and there are a band of surfers who are dedicated to tracking storms that will light up this reef. On this day the surf was absolutely firing but the winds were strong and unrelenting. One surfer paddled out and found a few diamonds in the rough.” -PC
